Voice projection.

Hello everyone and welcome to another entry!馃榿 For this week's entry I actually don't have much information for you to read but a lot of photos and videos instead.

We did so many fun activities this week related to the voice, intonation and tips on how to use our voice as an instrument.

Teachers need to have a very good use of their voice, since it is their source for students to listen what they have to learn. On Tuesday we watched a video from a voice coach where he explained some exercises for us to play with the volume of our voice in order to get the right tone.

We also got some tips from our classmate Nidia who is a radio host and knows all about the right tone of voice.

Shortly after that teacher Orlando asked us to make some room because we were going to be moving around a lot

First, we listened to some voice impressions , and this actually helps to train your voice and use different tones and vary the volume. We had to imitate the voice of a teacher, of a friend and a famous person and we all had so much fun while doing it!

Then, teacher Orlando asked us to get a partner and stand in front of them, we had to have a conversation with them while we were getting farther away, and we had to increase the volumen of our voice.

We actually did many exercises in pairs, we also had to put a pencil in our mouth and then talk to our partner, this exercise is good to improve our diction, it was difficult but after you remove the pencil you feel like you can pronounce every word smoothly.

Teacher Orlando also showed his voice skills while asking us to go higher with our voice and almost imitating the voice of an opera singer, who are also masters in using their voice.

We continued with the exercises and we had to run and jump while talking to our partner in order to maintain the volumen of our voice and not running out of breath.

That was it just for Tuesday's class, we did so many fun things while also working on our voice.

We worked in groups for Thursday's class.

Yesterday's class was also so much fun! We also watched another video from the same voice coach and what we learned was that we have to losen our shoulders and also, make gestures to feel more relaxed, especially, work on the face muscles, another good tip is to imagine the audience in front of you while preparing for a speech. We learned that the people who use their voice as an instrument are: Singers, teachers, actors, especially theater ones and people who work on dubbing voices.

Another thing we learned which was the main topic of yesterday's class were the three intentions that are used on advertisings, which are: Institutional, sales and neutral voice. We don't even notice it but we hear this intentions all the time whether it is on the radio or on TV. The institutional voice can be used when we want to address our audience in a formal way and when we want to sound professional, the sales intention is self explanatory, it has to be lively and a voice that catches the listener's attention so they can buy the product and the neutral voice can be used when you want to sound more friendly and not over the top.

What we had to with our group was to read out loud a poem-like text but we had to use all three different voices while reading the same text, and it was really challenging to incorporate the different elements of each intention.

Here's Josh working on his institutional voice馃槀

Here's the rest of the team being excited over Jonathan馃槀

And here is Mar铆a using here sales voice, she's really good at it! Even when she's not trying, she sounds really professional, I think she has the potential to become a voice actor馃憦

Then, it was time for Nidia to give us some feedback which was the most exciting part of yesterday's class.

She told us to make gestures while talking since every emotion of ours will be projected in our voice, we don't have to be afraid of looking silly in order to make our voice sound beautiful, and what we don't have to do is clear our throat before speaking since that will affect our tone, and two of my classmates did this unconsciously after she had said it, which just proves that it is something we do automatically but it can be corrected.

I enjoyed this week's topic so much and we also have a very interesting one for next week, so stay tuned for that entry as well!

And last but not least, here is something that Nidia said that I will always keep in mind: No one has an ugly voice, it is jut not well trained. So if you feel you are not doing great while speaking in public or you don't like your voice, just remember you can change all of this and be better at it, so don't lose your motivation!

Thank you for reading this week's entry, bye-bye!馃憢
